pH Scale

Acidic Solution
A mixture where the concentration of hydrogen ions exceeds that of hydroxide ions, resulting in a value less than 7.
Basic Solution
A mixture where the concentration of hydroxide ions exceeds that of hydrogen ions, resulting in a value greater than 7.
Neutral Solution
A mixture where hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion concentrations are equal, typically corresponding to a value of 7 at 25°C.
Hydrogen Ion Concentration
The amount of H+ present in a solution, determining its acidity and calculated as 10 to the negative value.
Hydroxide Ion Concentration
The amount of OH- present in a solution, determining its basicity and calculated as 10 to the negative value.
pOH
A value expressing the basicity of a solution, found by taking the negative logarithm of hydroxide ion concentration.

The equilibrium constant for water's self-ionization, linking hydrogen and hydroxide ion concentrations.
