  • Kidney

The organ that filters blood to produce urine, removing waste and excess substances.

  • Renal cortex

The outer region of the kidney where ultrafiltration occurs.

  • Renal medulla

The inner region of the kidney containing the renal pyramids and nephron loops.

  • Renal sinus

A cavity within the kidney that houses the renal pelvis, blood vessels, nerves, and fat.

  • Renal pelvis

The funnel-shaped structure that collects urine from the kidney and channels it to the ureter.

  • Renal artery

The blood vessel that carries oxygenated blood to the kidneys.

  • Renal vein

The blood vessel that carries filtered, deoxygenated blood away from the kidneys.

  • Ureter

The tube that transports urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder.

  • Urinary bladder

A muscular sac that stores urine until it is expelled from the body.

  • Urethra

The tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.

  • Nephron

The functional unit of the kidney responsible for filtering blood and forming urine.

  • Renal corpuscle

The initial filtering component of the nephron, consisting of the glomerulus and glomerular capsule.

  • Glomerular capsule

A cup-shaped structure surrounding the glomerulus that collects filtrate from blood.

  • Glomerulus

A network of capillaries where blood filtration begins in the nephron.

  • Proximal convoluted tubule

The nephron segment where most reabsorption of water, ions, and nutrients occurs.

  • Nephron loop (Loop of Henle)

A U-shaped tube that concentrates urine by reabsorbing water and salts.

  • Distal convoluted tubule

The nephron segment involved in selective reabsorption and secretion to regulate electrolyte balance.

  • Collecting duct

The structure that collects urine from multiple nephrons and channels it to the renal pelvis.

  • Scrotum

The external pouch that houses and protects the testes.

  • Testis (Testes)

The male reproductive organs that produce sperm and testosterone.

  • Epididymis

A coiled tube where sperm mature and are stored before ejaculation.

  • Ductus deferens

The tube that transports sperm from the epididymis to the urethra.

  • Seminal vesicle

A gland that produces seminal fluid to nourish and transport sperm.

  • Prostate gland

A gland that secretes fluid to enhance sperm motility and viability.
