Course Title and Description
BIO 210 – Anatomy and Physiology I is the first of a two-course sequence that provides an in-depth study of the structure and function of the human body. The course emphasizes laboratory sessions with microscopic studies, dissections, and physiological experiments. Major topics include biochemistry, cells, tissues, integumentary, muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems, as well as special senses.
Prerequisite: BIO 112 or other college biology or chemistry is strongly recommended.

Textbook and Course Materials
The course uses an open-source platform called Openstax for the 2021/21 textbook materials, which are free and available online.
Optional hard copies can be purchased from Amazon or other retailers.
An interactive A&P program called Visible Body for Lab will be used, with access details provided via Blackboard.

Attendance and Assignment Policy
Attendance Policy
Students are expected to attend and participate in all scheduled classes and laboratory sessions.
Missing more than 15% of scheduled sessions may result in withdrawal from the course.
Failure to attend or participate may result in a final grade of "F".
Weekly Assignments and Quizzes
Assignments and quizzes are due each week on Monday night by 11:59 PM.
All assignments must be submitted through Blackboard (BB).
No late assignments or quizzes will be accepted except under extenuating circumstances.
In-Person Comprehensive Final Exam
The final exam is in-person and requires a valid ID for entry.
No make-up exams are allowed except for excused absences.
Makeup Exam Policy
1 day missed: 10% penalty
2-3 days missed: 25% penalty
After 3 days: 50% penalty
Unit Lecture Exams and Honorlock
Exam Proctoring
Lecture exams are proctored using Honorlock, an online proctoring service.
Honorlock is available 24/7 and requires a computer, webcam, and stable internet connection.
No account creation or software installation is necessary.

Students are responsible for checking Blackboard regularly for announcements and assignments.
