Point-slope form should be used only for lines with integer slopes and integer coordinates, because it does not work properly for lines with rational slopes.
Point-slope form is preferable when you know a point on the line and the slope; it allows you to substitute the point and slope directly without finding b first.
Point-slope form is preferable whenever the y-intercept is known because it usually leads to simpler arithmetic than writing the equation in the form y = mx + b.
Point-slope is the same as standard form and should be used to eliminate fractions prior to any computation.
