Course Materials
Required Textbook and Online Access
This course requires students to obtain access to a specific online textbook and assignment platform to support their learning in Intermediate Algebra.
Textbook: Intermediate Algebra w/MML (custom HCC edition or 8th edition) by Martin-Gay.
Online Platform: MyLab and Mastering (MML) is the required online program. It provides access to the e-book and all course assignments.
Access Code: Students must purchase an access code for MyLab and Mastering. This can be done through the campus bookstore, the "Hawk Bundle," or directly from the publisher (Pearson) by following prompts in the course's Canvas site.
Registration: After purchasing the access code, students do not need to log in directly at mylab.com. Instead, they should access MML assignments through Canvas, which will guide them through registration.
Course ID: For reference, the MyLab and Mastering course ID for this class is tyszka16799.
Calculator Policy
Calculator Requirements and Restrictions
Calculators are useful tools for algebraic computations, but there are specific guidelines for their use in this course.
Recommended Calculator: A scientific calculator is encouraged for coursework, but not required. A simple 4-function calculator is sufficient for most tasks.
Personal Calculator: Students should purchase and use their own calculator to become familiar with its functions.
Exam Policy: The use of phones as calculators is strictly prohibited during exams.
