Intermediate Algebra
The x-axis and y-axis are interchangeable lines used to measure different quantities, with the origin located midway between them.
The x-axis is horizontal and represents left–right movement, while the y-axis is vertical and represents up-down movement. Together, they form the rectangular coordinate system.
The x-axis is vertical and represents up–down movement, while the y-axis is horizontal and represents left–right movement, forming a polar coordinate system.
The x-axis shows only positive values to the right, and the y-axis shows only positive values above the origin; negative values are not included in this system.
