Course Overview

Introduction to Human Anatomy

This course introduces the structure of cells, tissues, and organs of the human body, with a focus on major human systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine, and reproductive. Dissection and microscopy are used extensively in lab activities.

  • Key Systems Studied: Integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine, reproductive.

  • Methods: Dissection, microscopy, and hands-on laboratory activities.

  • Applications: Foundational knowledge for health sciences, biology, and allied health fields.

Course Structure and Requirements

Remote Hands-on Lab Activity (Mandatory)

The course includes a mandatory hands-on experimental lab component. Students must complete and submit the required lab assignments to pass the course.

  • Lab Component: Includes activities such as the "Chicken Wing Dissection" to study muscle-bone relationships and joint movement.

  • Required Materials:

    • Two chicken wings with skin and bones

    • Kitchen knife or steak knife with smooth blade edge

    • Tweezers (preferably small ones)

    • Gloves
