Q: Based on the first image, is the relation shown a function? State the domain and range using set notation.

No, it is not a function. Domain: $$\{\text{Bob}, \text{Darius}, \text{Chuck}\}$$, Range: $$\{\text{Beth}, \text{Diane}, \text{Imani}, \text{Marcia}\}$$

Question 1

Based on the first image, is the relation shown a function? State the domain and range using set notation.

Accepted Answer

No, it is not a function. Domain: $$\{	ext{Bob}, ext{Darius}, ext{Chuck}\}$$, Range: $$\{	ext{Beth}, ext{Diane}, ext{Imani}, ext{Marcia}\}$$

Question 2

The second image shows the graph of a relation. Does this graph represent a function? Why or why not?

Accepted Answer

No, because some vertical lines intersect the graph more than once.

Question 3

In the third image, what is the domain of the function shown?

Accepted Answer

$$[0, 4)$$

Question 4

For the function in the fourth image, which of the following best describes the intervals where the function is increasing?

Accepted Answer

$$(-3, 0)$$ and $$(2, 3)$$

Question 5

In the fifth image, what are the coordinates of the vertex of the parabola, and is this point a maximum or minimum?

Accepted Answer

$$(\frac{1}{2}, 5)$$, maximum

Question 6

In the sixth image, what are the x-intercepts of the function?

Accepted Answer

$$x = 0, 4, 6$$

Question 7

For the function in the sixth image, what is the absolute minimum value?

Accepted Answer

$$-2$$

Question 8

In the seventh image, what is the average rate of change of the function from $$x = -10 to$$ $$x = -8$$?

Accepted Answer

$$\frac{-4 - 0}{-8 - (-10)} = -2$$

Question 9

In the eighth image, is the function even, odd, or neither?

Accepted Answer

Odd

Question 10

In the ninth image, what is the domain of the function?

Accepted Answer

$$[-3, 3]$$

Question 11

In the tenth image, what is the range of the function?

Accepted Answer

$$[-1, 1]$$

Question 12

For the function in the tenth image, is the function even, odd, or neither?

Accepted Answer

Even
