Catalog Course Description

This course covers the fundamental algebraic operations, exponents and radicals, systems of equations, higher degree equations, logarithms, and inequalities. Prerequisite: Placement through the College Testing and Placement Program or completion of MATH 091 with a grade of C or higher.

Learning Outcomes

  • Graph and identify characteristics of algebraic and transcendental functions

  • Perform function operations

Calculator Policy

  • A scientific calculator is required; a graphing calculator is helpful but not required.

  • Calculators/devices with a Computer Algebra System (CAS) are not allowed.

  • Calculator applications on electronic devices (cellphone, tablet, smartwatch, etc.) are not permitted.

  • Attendance: Regular attendance is required. Missing four consecutive classes or two consecutive assignments may result in withdrawal.

  • Homework: Assigned and completed through MyMathLab. Homework is essential for mastering course material.

  • Exams: Four proctored exams (including the final). Only one reschedule allowed per semester.

  • Academic Honesty: Cheating results in a zero and possible course failure. All work must be your own.

  • AI Policy: AI tools may be used for learning and practice, but not for graded assessments. Unauthorized use is considered academic dishonesty.
