Predict how a population of insects might evolve after a new pesticide is introduced.

The pesticide has no effect on the insects' genetic traits.

Insects with genetic resistance to the pesticide will survive and reproduce, eventually leading to a resistant population.

All insects will die from the pesticide, resulting in no evolutionary change.

The entire population will become identical in genetic makeup.
