A systematic approach involving observation, hypothesis formation, experimentation, and revision based on evidence.

Question 2

What is the significance of the speed of light in astronomical observations?

Accepted Answer

It means that when we observe distant objects, we see them as they were in the past, not as they are now.

Accepted Answer

$$5 imes 10^2$ s

Question 12

Which of the following is an example of a consequence of light travel time in astronomy?

Accepted Answer

We can observe the formation of galaxies as it happened billions of years ago.

Question 13

Which of the following best describes the difference between a scientific law and a scientific theory?

Accepted Answer

A law describes a specific relationship observed in nature, while a theory explains why that relationship exists.

Question 14

Which of the following numbers is written correctly in scientific notation?

Accepted Answer

$$6.02 imes 10$$^{23}$$
