Question 1

Which of the following best describes positive reinforcement?

Accepted Answer

A response is followed immediately by the presentation of a stimulus that increases the future occurrence of similar responses.

Question 2

According to the two-term contingency, what is the correct sequence of events?

Accepted Answer

$$R \rightarrow S_{R+}$$

Question 3

Which of the following is an example of a positive reinforcer?

Accepted Answer

A student receives praise from a teacher after answering a question correctly.

Question 4

Why is the immediacy of reinforcement important in behavior change?

Accepted Answer

Because the behavior that occurs closest in time to the reinforcer will be strengthened.

Question 5

Which scenario best illustrates rule-governed behavior?

Accepted Answer

An employee follows safety procedures because the company handbook says so, even though no one is watching.

Question 6

What is the main difference between reinforcement and a reinforcer?

Accepted Answer

Reinforcement is the process that increases future behavior, while a reinforcer is the stimulus responsible for that increase.

Question 7

Which of the following is an example of a generalized conditioned reinforcer?

Accepted Answer

Money

Which of the following best describes automatic reinforcement?

Accepted Answer

Reinforcement that occurs without the presentation of consequences by other people.

Question 10

What is the effect of a motivating operation (MO) in the four-term contingency?

Accepted Answer

It alters both the reinforcing effectiveness of a stimulus and the current frequency of a behavior.

Question 11

Which of the following is an example of a three-term contingency?

Accepted Answer

$$S_{D} \rightarrow R \rightarrow S_{R+}$$

Question 12

A child hears the music of an ice cream truck and immediately runs outside to buy ice cream. In this scenario, the music of the ice cream truck is best described as:

Accepted Answer

A discriminative stimulus ($$S_{D})$$

Question 13

Which of the following is NOT an indicator of rule-governed behavior?

Accepted Answer

Immediate consequence is always present.

Question 14

Which of the following best illustrates the effect of antecedent events in reinforcement?

Accepted Answer

They acquire the ability to evoke behavior that falls within the reinforced response class.

Question 15

Which of the following is an example of an unconditioned reinforcer?

Accepted Answer

Food

Question 16

A student studies for an exam and receives a high grade, which increases their likelihood of studying for future exams. What is the reinforcer in this scenario?

Accepted Answer

The high grade

Question 17

Which of the following statements about delayed consequences is TRUE?

Accepted Answer

Delayed consequences do not reinforce behavior directly.

Question 18

Which of the following best describes the Premack Principle using a mathematical relationship?

Accepted Answer

$$P(	ext{low-frequency behavior})
ightarrow P(	ext{high-frequency behavior})$$

Question 19

Which of the following is a correct example of a motivating operation (MO) affecting behavior?

Accepted Answer

A person who has not eaten all day finds food more reinforcing and is more likely to seek it out.

Question 20

Which of the following best describes the four-term contingency in behavior analysis?
