Accepted Answer

$$	ext{Choice RT} - ext{Simple RT}$$

Question 6

Which of the following is a key criticism Chomsky made against Skinner's explanation of language acquisition?

Accepted Answer

Children produce sentences they have never heard before, indicating language ability is innate.

Question 7

Which memory system, according to the Information Processing Model, has the shortest duration?

Accepted Answer

Sensory memory

Question 8

A student is able to recall a list of words immediately after hearing them, but forgets most of them after 30 seconds. Which memory system is primarily involved?

Accepted Answer

Short-term memory

Question 9

Which of the following best describes the main difference between retention and recall, as discussed by Aristotle?

Accepted Answer

Retention is the encoding of information in memory, while recall is the deliberate retrieval of information.

Question 10

Which of the following is an example of the reduction process in cognition?

Accepted Answer

Filtering out background noise to focus on a conversation.

Question 11

According to the forgetting function observed by Ebbinghaus, when does most forgetting occur?

Accepted Answer

Soon after initial learning

Question 12

Which of the following is NOT a characteristic of cognitive psychology?

Accepted Answer

Focuses on unconscious motives

Question 13

Which of the following best illustrates the concept of 'attention' in the Information Processing Model?

Accepted Answer

Selecting relevant information for a task and filtering out irrelevant details.

Question 14

Which of the following statements about memory storage and retrieval is TRUE?

Accepted Answer

Information can be stored in memory but not always retrieved when needed.

Question 15

Which of the following is a limitation of the stimulus-response model from behaviorism?

Accepted Answer

It does not specify the transformation from stimulus to response or recognize internal mental states.

Question 16

Which of the following is an example of a real-world application of cognitive psychology?

Accepted Answer

Transforming the features of digits into finger movements when dialing a phone number.

Question 17

Which of the following best describes the capacity and duration of short-term memory (STM)?

Accepted Answer

STM can hold about 7 items for 20-30 seconds.

Question 18

Which of the following is a key feature of long-term memory (LTM) in the Information Processing Model?

Accepted Answer

It has a permanent and unlimited capacity.

Question 19

Which of the following best explains why cognitive psychology was influenced by early computers?

Accepted Answer

Both cognitive psychology and computers deal with the transformation of information.
