Course Overview

Introduction to Human Anatomy & Physiology

This course provides a foundational understanding of human anatomy and physiology, focusing on the structure and function of the human body. It is designed for students pursuing careers in allied health and related fields, and covers essential topics such as anatomical terminology, basic organic chemistry, histology, cells and tissues, and the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems.

  • Lecture: 3 hours per week

  • Prerequisite: Chemistry 305 or equivalent (grade "C" or better)

Course Structure & Expectations

Academic Rigor and Study Habits

  • Memorization and Application: Students must memorize a large volume of information and apply, analyze, and synthesize concepts during labs, assignments, and exams.

  • Study Time: At least 8 hours per week outside of class is recommended.

  • Preparation: Students are expected to come to class prepared and work cooperatively with peers.

  • Communication: Correct grammar and clear communication are required on all written assignments and exams.

Attendance Policy

  • Required Attendance: More than 4 unexcused absences may result in being dropped from the course.

  • Responsibility: Students are responsible for obtaining missed information from classmates.

  • Homework: 89 points (assigned via Access Pearson)
