Definition and Scope

  • Biology is the scientific study of life and living organisms.

Mechanisms of Evolution

  • Mutation: Random changes in DNA that can introduce new traits.

  • Natural selection: Individuals with advantageous traits survive and reproduce more successfully ("survival of the fittest").

  • Gene flow: Movement of genes between populations, increasing genetic diversity.

Darwin's Theory
