Course Description
This course is designed to familiarize learners with algebraic manipulations, modeling with functions, translations and reflections of functions, and real-world data applications that relate to student lives.

Student Learning Outcomes
Translate elementary word problems into mathematical equations or inequalities.
Apply appropriate algebraic techniques to solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable.
Solve real basic arithmetic operations with complex numbers.
Perform quadratic equations using factoring or the quadratic formula, as appropriate.
Evaluate the equations of lines using either two points or one point and the slope.
Sketch the graph of a line given its equation.
Solve systems of two linear equations with two variables.
Evaluate functions (y=f(x)) for various values of x.
Determine the implied domains of functions.
Assessment Methods
Exams (MyMathLab): Timed, online, and may require the use of a calculator. All exams must be taken as scheduled.
Quizzes (MyMathLab): Posted online; cannot be retaken or made up.
Homework (MyMathLab): Interactive, web-based platform. Deadlines are strictly enforced.
Discussion Boards (Brightspace): For student posts, peer responses, and asking questions.

Course Policies
Attendance: Students must log into Brightspace and MyMathLab during the first week and check Brightspace for information at least three times a week.
