  • Random Selection: Sample data must be collected through random selection to ensure validity. Non-random methods can render data useless, regardless of subsequent analysis.

  • Voluntary Response Sample: A sample in which respondents decide whether to participate. This method often leads to biased results because it does not represent the entire population.

Surveys are a primary tool for collecting data in statistics. They help improve products and services, guide political candidates, shape business practices, influence social media, and provide insights into public opinion.
