Internal Verifier and Assessor Programme
Purpose of training
This hands-on 3-day workshop is built on the principles of Vocational Education and Teaching. It is suitable for those new to BTEC delivery and assessment, those looking for a refresher on Pearson’s expectations, or those who wish to support colleagues in the successful delivery of BTECs.
Each day has a specific focus:
Day 1: An overview of: the content and structure of the BTEC qualification; the assessment tools available and assessment best practices; and quality assurance process.
Day 2: A deep dive into designing and marking assessments and giving learner feedback.
Day 3: A detailed look at managing the internal and external quality assurance processes for the qualification.
Learning objectives
- Understand the content and structure of BTEC qualifications
- How to plan a successful BTEC programme
- Understand how to grade learner evidence, recognising the importance of command verbs used in assessment criteria
- Review how to develop assignment scenarios and prepare an assignment brief
- Understand Internal /external quality assurance

- an understanding of what centres can do to help minimise the risk of plagiarism and malpractice
