About English Language Teacher Competency Development (PKGBI)
According to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 12 of 2024, regarding the Curriculum for Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education, English subjects in elementary schools will be elective until the 2026/2027 school year. Beginning in the 2027/2028 school year, they will become mandatory.
The Ministry is responsible for supporting this transition by providing teacher training for those who will teach English in elementary schools, madrasah ibtidaiyah, or equivalent institutions during this period.

Stages of the program
Assessment with Versant by Pearson
Prospective participants complete an initial assessment to identify areas for improvement and tailor their learning experience during the competency development stage.
Developing language competence with Roadmap
Participants progress through the English Language Teacher Competency Development (PKGBI) program to enhance their language skills.
Pedagogical development
Qualified participants advance to the Master Trainer Certificate in Online Training and Facilitation, equipping them with the pedagogical skills needed to deliver engaging, effective, and empowering professional learning in virtual and blended environments.
