Master Trainer Certification in Online Training and Facilitation of Adult Learners

The PTEL Academy Master Trainer programs prepare participants to deliver active, research-based, learner-centred professional development.

All programs are purposefully interactive and designed to create a community of learners within the training classroom. PTEL Academy Master Trainer Programs are “designed for transfer” meaning the skills learned can be easily transferred to a live classroom environment providing participants with the opportunity to explore, consolidate and reflect on their learning experience over a sustained period. 

PTEL Academy Certificate in English Language Teacher Development (CertELTD)

Designed by world-class subject-matter experts from Pearson. On successful completion, you will be awarded the First TEFL Certificate in English Language Teaching, accredited by Hunter College, NYC.

The CertELTD helps participants to update, enrich and improve their teaching practice, examining different approaches to teaching English in order to make better decisions for their classes and discovering about different aspects of teaching and learning that they may not have had the chance to explore before.

Master Trainer Certification in Online Training and Facilitation of Adult Learners

Course overview

This certification is designed for teacher trainers who facilitate professional learning for others in an online environment. The Master Trainer Certificate for Online Training and Facilitation equips participants to deliver engaging, effective, and empowering professional learning in virtual and blended environments.

PTEL Academy Certificate in English Language Teacher Development (CertELTD)

Course overview

This 10-week course offers 50+ hours of modular content with self-paced digital learning, including explainer videos, podcasts, video tutorials, in-module activities, and quizzes.

In addition, there are ten sessions in which participants are encouraged to share ideas and perspectives and commit to transferring their learning from the course into their teaching practice.

The focus is on practical strategies using the latest pedagogies and methodologies that can be immediately applied in the classroom.

  • Ability to evaluate, adapt, and create teaching and training resources to meet learners' needs.
  • Skills to reflect on and justify pedagogical decisions effortlessly.
  • Ability to apply teaching methodologies and communicate teaching approaches effectively in real-world settings.
  • Proficiency in various approaches to teaching the four language systems (discourse, grammar, lexis, and pronunciation) and the four language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).

Master Trainer earning criteria

  • Complete the pre-course task.
  • Attend all virtual sessions of the Master Trainer 3 course.
  • Complete asynchronous tasks between live sessions.
  • Participate actively in virtual sessions.
  • Complete a Final Task, assessed by a Pearson lead trainer, who will determine the pass/fail grade.
  • Achieve a passing grade on the Final Task.

CertELTD earning criteria

  • Actively participate in at least 80% of synchronous sessions.
  • Complete asynchronous tasks between live sessions for the CertELTD course:
    • Module 1: ELT Methodology
    • Module 2: Teaching the Four Language Systems
    • Module 3: Teaching the Four Language Skills
  • Achieve at least 70% on all CertELTD assessments.
