Kathy Adams McIntosh

Kathy Adams McIntosh earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration from Lakeland College. She is a Certified Management Accountant and serves on the board of her local chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. Her experience includes working in higher education, business consulting, accounting, employee training and leadership.

Steve Bartorillo
Tutor, Introduction to Finance
Steve joined the Pearson family in January of 2015. Steve is married with three children and lives in Pennsylvania. Steve studied Mathematics at Lock Haven University and furthered his education by receiving a MBA Villanova University. Steve spent many years at Vanguard and more recently joined the management team at SEIC.com, an investment management company specializing in wealth management. Steve is also an adjunct professor. For fun, Steve enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his children.

Michael Bennett
Tutor, Advanced Accounting
Mike Bennett joined Pearson in 2013, after retiring from a NASDAQ-traded manufacturing company, where he served as CFO for more than 20 years. His earlier experience included auditing with Price Waterhouse. He holds an undergraduate accounting degree as well as an MBA. Mike has been a tutor since his undergraduate college years, and briefly taught Introduction to Accounting as an adjunct at Indiana University. He continues helping students conquer their confusion more quickly than he did as an undergraduate.

Steven Carter
Tutor, Introductory Accounting
Stephen taught accounting for 23 years at Lone Star Community College in the Houston area. He held a CPA certificate for over 25 years and maintained a CPA practice for over 20 years. He developed the first online accounting course at the college. Stephen created an accounting tutorial for both online and classroom courses and developed a pre-test quizzer. After retirement, he created a website on which he developed an accounting tutorial using Adobe Director. He joined Smarthinking in 2010.

Susan Handley
Lead Tutor, Introductory Accounting
Susan is responsible to oversee the tutors of Introductory Accounting. Susan joined Smarthinking in 2007. She was an adjunct instructor at State Fair Community College, teaching various accounting subjects. Prior to her academic experience, Susan spent 20 years as a corporate controller; most recently as a consultant training accounting professionals. Susan received a B.A. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and an M.B.A from Northcentral University.

Farrokh Kahnamoui
Tutor, Introductory Economics
Farrokh Kahnamoui has a PhD in economics with specialization in international trade and development. Farrokh has taught at various colleges and universities since 1994 and is currently a visiting assistant professor of economics. His teaching interests include macroeconomics, microeconomics, international trade and finance both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interests are macroeconomics, finance and international trade. Farrokh is currently working on a paper about the causes of the financial crisis of 2008-2009.

Dorothy Thompson
Lead Tutor, Introductory Accounting
Dorothy is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida. She received her BBA in Accounting from Texas Woman’s University, MS in Accounting and MS in Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Business Administration from Jacksonville University. As the first full-time business faculty at Ave Maria University, Assistant Professor Thompson has had the pleasure of creating the accounting major and watching her department and university enrollment progressively grow each year. Prior to academia, Dorothy worked in the corporate sector. Dorothy is a Girl Scout troop leader and active volunteer at her children’s schools. She and her husband Aaron live with their two children, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 fish and 1 guinea pig in Naples, FL.

Jim Triplett
Lead Tutor, Introduction to Finance
Jim Triplett is the lead tutor for Introduction to Finance at Smarthinking, a professor of finance, a self-employed risk management consultant, and an author. He holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance), a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership, a Master of Arts in Instructional Design Technology, is ABD toward a PhD in Organization and Management (Leadership) and is currently pursuing an EdD in Educational Technology. His most recent book is Surviving Introduction to Finance.

Rebecca Whitworth
Coordinator, Business and IT Subjects
Rebecca Whitworth earned her M.A. in Economics from University of Missouri, Columbia, and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, emphasis in Economics with a Minor in Mathematics from Saint Louis University. After spending many hours in the classroom teaching undergraduate and graduate BSBA, Economics, and MBA students, she joined the Pearson family in 2012. When Rebecca isn’t helping students, she enjoys aerial circus arts, rock climbing, and spending time with her daughter.
