Claudia Werner-Rutledge, Ph.D., RN, CNE

Claudia Werner-Rutledge, PhD, RN, CNE is a nurse educator with enthusiasm for online education, critical thinking, as well as evidence based practice in education and nursing. Claudia earned a PhD in Education with a specialization in Nursing Education. Claudia is also a Certified Nurse Educator by the National League for Nursing. Claudia teaches in the MSN program, new faculty mentor and content expert for PhD candidates. Claudia joined Smarthinking in 2011.

Denise H. Woodson, MA, MT (ASCP) SC
Academic Coordinator, Smarthinking Health Professions and Nursing
Denise Woodson is the online academic coordinator of Smarthinking’s Health Professions and Nursing services. Denise is responsible for supervising, training, evaluating and mentoring e-structors and managing operational components of the program. Denise has over thirty-five years of experience in the healthcare industry including instructional experience. Her hospital employment has included management and supervision of clinical staff ranging from 10 to 100+ employees. The various laboratory positions have included adjunct faculty appointments at local junior colleges for Medical Laboratory Technician clinical internships. For five years, Denise was an instructor of Laboratory Science and Medical Office Systems at Bryant and Stratton College in Richmond, VA. She was certified as an online educator by Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has also taught Medical Terminology online for Forsyth Technical Community College.
Denise has a BS in Medical Technology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, an MA in Allied Health Education from Central Michigan University, and Microsoft-certified training in Software Development and Web Design from Professional Resource Management in Richmond, VA.
