Hi everyone. Let's look at our next problem. The process in which a signal transfers to the brain through neurons is an example of what type of intracellular connection. When we think about neurons transmitting a signal. Um This is called a communicating junction. It's also sometimes called a gap junction. And these are channels between the membranes of two cells allowing direct communication. That's their name by means of chemical or electrical signals between them. Um And because the signals are often passing across a gap between the cells uh that's where they also get the name gap junction. So when we look over at our answers we see Choice B. Is communicating junction. So let's just briefly look at the others and see why they're not correct choice A says an anchoring function on anchoring junction has the function of it hearing cells to each other or the extra cellular matrix. So adhering as you might guess by the name anchoring anchoring them together. So not Choice A. I see says tight junction. Well similar to the anchoring junction. A tight junction also has a role in um adhering cells together. It's uh two adjacent cells holding them together so tightly that there's essentially no space between them. That's the tight junction. So not what we're looking at here. We're talking about signals being communicated through the cells. And Choice D adherence junction.
