hey everyone in this example, we have cyclo hexane, which is a six carbon atom ring. We need to determine the molecular formula for this compound. So drawing out cycle hexane, we have a six carbon ring. So we'll have our first carbon here bonded to a second carbon. We have a third carbon here, 1/4 carbon, 1/5 carbon and then a six carbon which completes our structure. So we can count a total of 12345 and 64 hour cyclo hexane ring. And to complete this molecule, we want to go ahead and recall that for each of our carbon atoms to be stable, they need to be bonded to four atoms Right now this carbon is bonded to two other atoms. However, if we go ahead and include the fact that this carbon is bonded to also to hydrogen which is interpreted in most structures, we would understand that this carbon is stable and that would apply to each of our carbons in this ring. So we can just go ahead and just for clarity, draw in these CH two s and so to get our molecular formula, we're going to count the total number of atoms we have in this molecule right now for our hydrogen is we have two hydrogen is bonded to each carbon atom and so we can count a total of 246, 8, 10, 12 Hydrogen Atoms. And as far as our carbons, we agreed that we have six carbon atoms because we have a ring of six carbons. And so we would say that therefore we have the following molecular formula, which is C six H 12 for cyclo hexane, and this would be our final answer to complete this example.
