  • Interference

Interaction of two or more waves occupying the same position at the same time, resulting in a net wave.
  • Constructive Interference

Occurs when the resultant displacement is greater in magnitude than either of the individual wave displacements.
  • Destructive Interference

Occurs when the resultant displacement is lesser in magnitude than either of the individual wave displacements.
  • Net Wave

The resultant wave formed when two or more waves interfere with each other.
  • Displacement

The distance a point on the wave has moved from its equilibrium position.
  • Amplitude

The maximum displacement of points on a wave, related to the wave's energy.
  • Frequency

The number of oscillations or cycles a wave completes in a given time period.
  • Phase Angle

A measure of the position of a point in time on a waveform cycle.
  • Reflection

The bouncing back of a wave when it encounters a boundary between two media.
  • Transmission

The passage of a wave through a boundary into a new medium.
  • Boundary

A surface or interface where two different media meet, affecting wave behavior.
  • Trough

The lowest point of a wave, opposite of the peak.
  • Peak

The highest point of a wave, opposite of the trough.
  • Wave Number

A measure of the number of wavelengths per unit distance, often ignored if position is zero.
  • Angular Frequency

The rate of change of the phase of a sinusoidal waveform, measured in radians per second.
