Using the Compound Light Microscope

Basic Steps for Operation

  1. Place the microscope on a flat surface and plug in the light source.

  2. Start with the scanning objective lens (lowest power) and place the slide on the stage.

  3. Use the coarse focus knob to bring the specimen into view, then switch to higher power objectives as needed.

  4. Use the fine focus knob for sharp focus at higher magnifications.

  5. Adjust the diaphragm to control the amount of light.
