So here we have an alcohol reacting with sodium here and so it's important to note that alcohol's when they react with sodium, they will form a salt plus hydrogen gas. In this situation, the salt is going to be sodium alcohol oxide. And so that's going to look like this, but oxygen is still going to be attached there, but it's going to be replaced with a negative charge there and the sodium is going to have joined with it. And at the same time we're going to form that half mole of that oxygen gas. And so this is going to be our organic product here. We do not include the hydrogen gas because that is not organic.
