Hello everyone. Today we are being asked to find what the product or products for the following al king substitution reaction occurring if there's only mono substitution happening. So whenever we see a cl two molecule reacting with an al caine, we know that this is a hallucination substitution reaction. So it's a hallucination substitution reaction where we are taking a halogen and substituting in front of the group. So whenever we have cl two reacting in the presence of an al caine in the presence of heat or UV light, we're gonna have what's known as home. A little cleavage. We're in this bond between the two chlorine will break evenly and one electron will go to each chlorine atom moreover with our al Qaeda, we're going to end up breaking a carbon hydrogen bond here. So for this carbon here, this bond, one electron can go to the hydrogen, one electron can go to that carbon giving us the following product. And so this carbon on the far right will have what's known as a radical or will have one electron. And so when we form these chlorine radicals here, we can say that this radical on the carbon can bond with this radical in the chlorine to give us this product. Now note that we have another carbon hydrogen bond that we can break to yield us on a unique product.
