Exam Overview

This document outlines the instructions, permitted materials, and content coverage for the Term Assessment #2 in a General Chemistry college course. Students should review these guidelines carefully to ensure compliance and optimal exam performance.

Exam Logistics

  • Date and Time: Wednesday, November 5, 6:30 pm – 8:15 pm

  • Length: 1 hour 45 minutes (105 minutes)

  • Format: Multiple Choice (approximately 27 questions)

  • Location: Room assignment posted separately in the Term Assessment #2 information folder in D2L

Materials and Identification

  • Bubble Sheet: Students must use an Akindi bubble sheet for the exam. Correctly fill in your name and student number as per instructions. Incorrectly filled sheets may result in a grade of zero.

  • Permitted Materials: Formula sheet, constants sheet, periodic table (provided by instructor). Only approved calculators are allowed.

  • Prohibited Items: No personal notes, textbooks, or unauthorized materials. Bags and coats must be placed at the back of the room.

  • Student ID: Must be placed on the upper right-hand corner of the desk for verification.

Exam Conduct and Rules

  • Arrive 30 minutes early to get seated and started on time.

  • Fill out all required information on the bubble sheet, including your name and student number.

  • Do not bring any electronic devices except approved calculators. All other devices must be turned off and placed in bags.

  • Keep the exam room silent and avoid communication with other students.

  • Raise your hand to ask questions or request assistance.

  • Do not leave the exam within the first 30 minutes or enter after 30 minutes have passed. Do not leave within the last 15 minutes.

  • Only materials designated by the instructor are allowed on the desk.

Health-Related Guidance

  • If you start the exam, it is assumed you are capable of completing it. The mark will stand and be used in calculating your final grade.

  • If you feel ill during the exam, notify your invigilator immediately.

  • If you are unable to write due to illness, consult your instructor and physician. Submit an academic consideration request (ACR) if necessary.

  • Chapter 5: All sections except 5.1. You do not need to know manometers (pages 152-153).

  • Section 5.2: All sections except gas over water (pages 170-171).

  • Chapter 12: All sections except 12.1 and 12.6. You should understand the concepts in section 12.3, but you will not need to do any calculations from section 12.3.
