Study Strategies and Exam Preparation

Effective Study Techniques

  • Active Recall: Practice retrieving information from memory rather than passive review.

  • Spaced Repetition: Review material at increasing intervals to improve long-term retention.

  • Plan Ahead: Use a calendar to schedule study sessions and avoid last-minute cramming.

The Forgetting Curve

The Forgetting Curve illustrates how quickly information is lost when there is no attempt to retain it. Without revision, only about 25% of learned material is retained after one week.

  • First review should occur soon after initial learning.

  • Subsequent reviews help maintain higher retention rates.

Equation (Forgetting Curve):

Where is the memory retained at time , is the initial memory, and is the forgetting rate constant.

Motivational Reminders

  • "Success is what comes after you stop making excuses."

  • "If you can dream it, you can do it."

  • Have a plan for your studies and career goals.
