Author bios

Valerie Thompson is a University of Toronto-educated Nurse Practitioner with a multifaceted career. She transitioned from clinical practice in an occupational medical centre to over 20 years of academic service as a Professor of Nursing at Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Kitchener Ontario. Subsequently, she assumed the role of Professor in the School of Business and coordinated the Health Office Administration Programme, where she also developed the curriculum. After her academic tenure, Valerie returned to clinical practice in primary care.
