Creating Personas

Develop fictional characters to represent your user types so you understand who you're designing for and why.

Research Toolkit

Explore a range of tools including Affinity Diagrams, User Journey Maps, and Empathy Maps.

Problem Statement Toolkit

Choose from a variety of approaches to create your problem statement, including the Four-Question and User approaches.

Ideas Generation Toolkit

Generate ideas using one or more of these techniques – Creative Ideas Session, Worst Possible Idea, and Eight Create. 

Power skills you will develop

Analysis

Synthesize user research to inform the development of your problem statement. Use your problem statement to inform the development of a design idea that can later be prototyped.

Collaboration

Work together with colleagues/peers to analyse user research and generate ideas. Encourage feedback from colleagues on idea generation and show openness to different perspectives.

Communication

Clearly define the goals and objectives of your Design Thinking projects, sharing information in order to convey meaning and achieve desired outcomes. Learn to communicate effectively when creating personas and empathy maps and when generating ideas with colleagues, centring your users in your process.

Creativity

Use different tools to generate novel or original ideas for solutions to user needs. Refine these ideas to create a clear design idea. Consider multiple user perspectives and develop design ideas that result in clear feedback. 

Critical thinking

Identify, collect and make sense of user research. Use a variety of tools, including user maps and personas, to better understand your user.
