  • Mass Percent

A ratio expressing the mass of a component relative to the total mass of a mixture, multiplied by 100.
  • Solute

A substance present in a smaller amount that is dissolved within another substance to form a solution.
  • Solvent

A substance present in a larger amount that dissolves another substance to create a solution.
  • Solution

A homogeneous mixture composed of a solute and a solvent combined in specific proportions.
  • NaOH

A common chemical compound, sodium hydroxide, often used as an example solute in mass percent calculations.
  • Component

An individual substance, such as a solute or solvent, that makes up part of a mixture.
  • Total Mass

The combined mass of all substances present in a solution, including both solute and solvent.
  • Grams

A unit of mass commonly used to measure quantities of solute, solvent, and solution in chemistry.
  • Percentage

A mathematical expression representing a part per hundred, often used to describe concentration.
  • Homogeneous Mixture

A combination of substances with uniform composition and properties throughout the sample.
  • Calculation

A mathematical process used to determine values such as concentration or mass percent in chemistry.
  • Concentration

A measure of the amount of solute present in a given quantity of solution or solvent.
