  • Percentile

Represents the percentage of data points in a dataset that fall below a specific value, indicating relative standing.
  • Quartile

Divides a dataset into four equal parts, with each representing a specific percentile threshold.
  • First Quartile

Marks the 25th percentile, indicating the value below which 25% of the data points lie.
  • Third Quartile

Marks the 75th percentile, indicating the value below which 75% of the data points lie.
  • Second Quartile

Corresponds to the 50th percentile, commonly known as the median of the dataset.
  • Median

Identifies the middle value in an ordered dataset, splitting the data into two equal halves.
  • Interquartile Range

Measures the spread of the middle 50% of data, calculated as the difference between the third and first quartiles.
  • Dataset

A collection of values or responses, often ordered for easier calculation of percentiles and quartiles.
  • Response

An individual value or score within a dataset, used in percentile and quartile calculations.
  • Notation

Symbols and subscripts used to represent percentiles and quartiles, such as P75 or Q1.
  • Average

A method for representing a percentile or quartile by taking the mean of two adjacent values in a dataset.
  • Order

Arrangement of data values from lowest to highest, essential for accurate percentile and quartile determination.
  • Formula

A mathematical expression used to calculate percentiles, involving counts of responses below a value and total responses.
  • Subscript

A small character or number written below and to the right of a symbol, indicating specific percentiles or quartiles.
  • Variability

The degree of spread or dispersion in a dataset, often assessed using the interquartile range.
