Title overview

Introduction to Criminal Justice aims to help people think and rethink, then understand why they think about things the way they do. This isn't just about learning the way the criminal justice system works. We may ask, What are the system's historical roots? What are its limits and possibilities? What are its assumptions? What the unintended consequences? This resource isn't meant just to train police officers or lawyers or corrections workers about how to work in the system. It is meant to help them think about the system they choose to work in and to do so in an informed way. This resource also serves students who are not pursuing a job in the criminal justice system—to help create an informed, knowledgeable citizenry.
