Following extensive pre-course preparation, on Thursday 10th November the BTEC Level 3 Public Service Course launched, marking a significant step forward for Vocational Education at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate.

As can be seen in the picture, Lt. Col. Strickland, the Commanding Officer is surrounded by a large number of Junior Soldiers who have already been identified for this new educational challenge.

The 16 and 17 year old Junior Soldiers will be completing the BTEC Level 3 Public Service Course which complements their Phase One Army Training. Substantial investment is underpinning this forward thinking educational initiative and the course structure has been developed to stretch and challenge the most academically able Junior Soldiers. Mr Ramsden, the BTEC Leader, said:

Make no mistake this is a winning combination. The experiences gained during Phase One Training, running parallel with the educational rigour of the Level 3 BTEC syllabus will mesh seamlessly to develop robust and rounded soldiers that will be a real credit to the Army Foundation College.
