Introduction

Pearson works to ensure that our products are as accessible as possible to all students. The platform team for Revel and its related products is working toward meeting WCAG 2.0 Level AA and Section 508 standards, as expressed in the Pearson Guidelines for Accessible Educational Web Media. By developing our products to meet recognized international standards, we support educational institutions in meeting their obligation to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by providing access to learning technology programs for users with disabilities.

Using a Screen Reader

Users who are blind or have low vision can access the site using screen reader software. Accessible Alternative text and long descriptions are provided for all static images that serve a pedagogical purpose.

Refer to guidelines on how to use JAWS and NVDA screen readers in Revel.

For optimal user experience, it is recommended that you not use Internet Explorer with Revel. If you are using Internet Explorer, refer to screen reader guidelines specific to this browser.

Using Magnification Tools

Users who have low vision and need to magnify the page may find that using magnification programs works better for them as there are more options for magnification strength and other display settings. Refer to guidelines on how to use ZoomText, iOS-Zoom, and Android-Magnification with Revel.

Navigating with a Keyboard

Standard keyboard navigation techniques are supported for users who do not use a mouse. These users can use the TAB key to visit most links, buttons, and form controls. Refer to guidelines on how to use keyboard access on a PC and an Android platform with Revel.

Closed Captioning

Closed-captioned videos are available for all Revel titles.

Speech Recognition

Speech recognition software may be used for those who do not use a keyboard or mouse. Refer to guidelines on how to use Dragon Naturally Speaking with Revel.

Revel Interactive Content

Specific Revel titles may include interactive activities to enrich the content experience. These activities were built in HTML5 to support screen reader and keyboard accessibility. The Revel team is committed to accessibility and are in the process of updating content that is not yet fully compliant with WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines. For certain activities involving drag and drop motion or sliders, alternative accessible activities are provided. If you come across an activity where you have an issue using your assistive technology or keyboard, please reach out to us at disability.support@pearson.com and provide the title, author, chapter, and title of the activity. We will investigate the issue further and respond promptly.
