Working Toward More Inclusive & Bias-Free Resources

Always striving to minimize bias in our content, Pearson is dedicated to creating resources that reflect the diversity, depth, and breadth of all learners’ lived experiences. We embrace the many dimensions of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, age, and religious or political beliefs.

Education is a powerful force for equity and change in our world. It has the potential to deliver opportunities that improve lives and enable economic mobility. As we work with authors to create content for every product and service, we acknowledge our responsibility to demonstrate inclusivity and incorporate diverse scholarship so that everyone can achieve their potential through learning. As the world’s leading learning company, we have a duty to help drive change and live up to our purpose to help more people create a better life for themselves and to create a better world.

Because of unconscious bias and rapidly changing understandings and terminology, it is important that we take responsibility for critically reviewing content with a lens to identifying opportunities to make it more inclusive. We now have diversity, equity, and inclusion plans for all titles. What this means in practical terms is we have hired subject matter experts with the skills and knowledge to critically review our content with a lens to identifying opportunities to make them more inclusive, ensure they are providing examples of diverse experiences and perspectives, including those of Indigenous Peoples.
