Dr. Carl J. Sheperis serves as a professor in the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Dr. Sheperis has extensive experience in pediatric and family mental health and has served as an expert to various media outlets including The Huffington Post, the Denver Post, Seattle Times, Parenting, Prevention, Disney Family, Bustle, The Hill, Everyday Power Blog, Verily Magazine, The Vine, numerous radio talk shows, and others. His interviews have reached over 50,000,000 readers. Dr. Sheperis has over 25 years of experience in pediatric and family mental health and he has served as an envoy for professional counseling to UNESCO, the International Association for Counseling, the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Turkey, the Kingdom of Bhutan, and numerous other international organizations/governments.
Dr. J. Scott Young joined the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2008 as Chair of the Department of Counseling and Educational Development and served in that role for 10 years. He currently serves as a professor in CED where he teaches both doctoral and master's coursework. His primary research focus is on the interface of spirituality and religion with counseling practice and has published numerous articles in this area. His leadership in the counseling field includes service as president of the Association for Spiritual Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling, as a member of the Governing Council and Executive Committee for the American Counseling Association. Professional colleagues have recognized him with numerous awards for outstanding research, excellence in teaching, and exemplar service. He was selected as an American Counseling Association (ACA) Fellow for his significant contributions in scientific achievement and training of counselors. Because of his expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship Dr. Young was selected as the Dean's Fellow of Innovation for the School of Education in 2016.
Dr. M. Harry Daniels is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida (UF). He started his career at UF as the head of the Counselor Education department in 1996. After 11 years in that capacity, Daniels returned to the classroom, but went on to serve as the director of the COE's School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education. During his tenure as chair, UF's Counselor Education program ranked among the top 5 programs nationally in its specialty every year in the U.S. News and World Report's annual survey of America's Best Graduate Schools. The program held the top spot in the 1997 rankings, and continues to receive high rankings.
