Carolyn Barraclough is an experienced author and teacher trainer. She has a BA honours degree in English and French from Bristol University. She also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education from Bath University and a TEFL certificate. Her special interests are motivating young teenagers and maximising memorability - vaues which are reflected in Activate!
Carolyn taught EFL in Greece and the UK for many years before moving into EFL publishing. She then worked as an educational consultant and editor for a variety of countries, and has had the chance to meet many tireless and dedicated teachers and listen to their views on what makes a good coursebook.
Now based near Oxford, Carolyn has two teenage children who keep her on her toes and influence her choice of potential text material. She also has a dog who helps keep her fit and a husband who keeps her sane.
Elaine Boyd writes, teaches and examines English language material. She taught English for over 20 years in Italy,Spain and the UK. She has also been an examiner, both in the UK and abroad, and has written a wide range of exam material for over 15 years. She has particular expertise in Writing, Listening and Speaking exams.
She has completed a PhD in Linguistics and has a particular interest in vocabulary. Elaine is currently working on developing online tests in English.
