Accessibility for the Pearson Languages website

At Pearson Languages, we're committed to ensuring that our website can be used by everyone, whatever their abilities, technology or environment. We aim to provide a positive, inclusive online experience for all visitors.

Our approach

We follow recognised accessibility standards and continually review our website to identify and fix issues. Our goal is to meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

How we test

We regularly test our pages as part of our continual reviews to identify and fix issues. This website was last tested on 20/03/2025 against the WCAG 2.2 standard. The test was carried out by All Able Ltd.

A representative sample of pages of the website were tested along with a sample of the documents from each area of the website. Testing was composed of a mixture of manual, semi-automated and assistive technology testing.

We regularly test our pages using:

  • Automated accessibility tools
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver
  • Zoom and magnification options
  • user customizations for text size, spacing and theme colour options
  • Manual checks for colour contrast, focus indication, heading structure, alternative text and remaining WCAG success criteria

Our commitment to accessibility

We ensure that:

  • All essential content and navigation are accessible without a mouse
  • Text and images use sufficient colour contrast for readability
  • Pages are structured with semantic headings for screen readers
  • Text size and layout adapt automatically for different screens and devices

Some older content or third-party tools may not yet fully meet accessibility standards. We’re reviewing these areas and working with our partners to improve them.

My Computer My Way has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability and the AT Hive can help you find assistive technologies that work for you.

Technical compatibility

The Pearson Languages website has been designed to work across modern browsers and devices, including desktop, tablet and mobile. We use responsive layouts and progressive enhancement to ensure a consistent and accessible experience wherever possible.
