Teaching Hubs Authors
The International GCSE Teaching Hubs content and activities have been written and developed by subject specialists with experience of working on world-leading GCSE and International GCSE resources.
Mathematics lead author: Dr Naomi Norman
Dr Naomi Norman is an education consultant with a mathematics PhD from Oxford University. She has worked with the UK Government’s Department for Education and researched and led on numerous preeminent mathematics programmes across the world.
Biology lead author: Mark Levesley
Mark Levesley has a PhD in molecular genetics and trained as a research scientist before moving into teaching. A former Head of Science, over the past 20 years he has authored and edited science textbooks and digital resources that are in use worldwide.
Chemistry sole author: John Kavanagh
John Kavanagh is a current Head of Science and is the author of several leading textbooks and digital resources for GCSE, International GCSE and A-Level.
Physics lead author: Darren Forbes
Darren Forbes is a former Head of Science who now works as a full-time Physics consultant and author. He has worked on prominent GCSE, International GCSE and A-Level resources across both print and digital. He is also an experienced Teaching and Learning coach who provides mentoring and training for school science departments around the UK.
English sole author: David Grant
David Grant is a former Head of English, and now writes and consults on a range of English textbooks and resources for primary and secondary years.
Business sole author: Julian King
Julian King is a former Head of Business, who is now working as a consultant and author. He has created resources for a variety of GCSE and A-level specifications. Julian is a senior examiner who also writes assessment materials for UK and International examinations in Business and Economics.
English as a Second Language lead author: Annie Altamirano
Annie Altamirano is an international speaker, author and trainer with a MA in ELT and Applied Linguistics, University of London. She has given teacher-training workshops in in Portugal, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia and China. She has worked with all major publishers and written materials for children and adolescents. Her main interests are assessment for learning, differentiated instruction and the use of literature to develop language skills and creativity and raise awareness of social issues.
