Authors
Eunice Price (Series Editor)
Eunice began teaching IB History in 1978, most recently at the United World College of the Adriatic (Italy) before retiring in 2019. Eunice has been an IB examiner since 1996 and has led numerous teacher-training workshops, as well as contributing to online training. She has taught in the US, Oman, Hong Kong, and Italy. Eunice holds an MA in History, and her main area of expertise continues to be 20th-century global history.
James Barrasso
James has been the Lead History Teacher at Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis (Massachusetts, US) since 2005, teaching IB History throughout that time. He is currently a senior history examiner for the IB, as well as a History Extended Essay examiner. James holds bachelor’s degrees in History and Journalism from the University of Connecticut (US), an MA in History Education from the University of Massachusetts, and an MA in Educational Leadership from Endicott College (US).
Jean Bottaro
Jean holds a master’s degree in History Education from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She teaches African and Modern World History and has served as chief moderator for History for the Independent Examinations Board in South Africa. Jean has authored textbooks for international publishers, used by schools in South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, and Malawi, as well as for the IB curriculum. She has also worked with digital publishers in Spain and Ireland, and most recently has been creating content independently for platforms in South Africa and Australia.
Carolina Chavez Fregogo
Carolina is an Adjunct Professor of International Relations and Conflict Management at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City. She has taught IB Global Politics and contributed to curriculum development. Carolina holds an MA in International Conflict and Security from the University of Kent, UK, and an MA in Protocol and Soft Diplomacy Skills from the International School of Protocol and Diplomacy.
Mason Grine
Mason began teaching IB History in 2019 after several years in international education. He has taught for over 11 years at international schools in Guatemala, Morocco and Portugal, and has served as IB DP Coordinator at multiple schools. Mason has been a DP History examiner and exam author since 2022, contributing to assessment and curriculum development. His undergraduate studies were in History and Spanish, with a particular focus on African and Middle Eastern history, and he holds an MA in Teaching.
Martha Harrington
Martha is the Extended Essay Coordinator at UWCSEA (Dover Campus, Singapore), where she teaches History and TOK. She has examined both Paper 2 and the IA for the IB. After completing her PGCE at the University of Cambridge (UK), she is now pursuing a master’s degree in Education at the University of Bath (UK), with a focus on curriculum design.
Patrick Lagendijk
Patrick teaches IB History at an international school in Kraków, Poland. He is an examiner for Paper 2 and the IA, and holds an MA in History from the University of St Andrews, Scotland. His goal is to make History accessible and meaningful to all students, whatever paths their lives may take.
Sol Inés Pérez
Sol has spent over two decades teaching History and TOK across Latin America and Europe. She holds master’s degrees in Secondary Education and International Studies from the Universidad de Chile. As a long-standing member of the IBEN, Sol has contributed to education worldwide in roles such as senior examiner, workshop leader, curriculum developer, educator trainer, and school site visitor for programme verification and evaluation. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to fostering critical thinking and global perspectives in the classroom.
Samuel J Richards
Samuel is the Head of Social Sciences at the International School of Kenya in Nairobi. He is an experienced IB History and Global Politics teacher. Samuel has taught and developed curricula for schools in Brazil, China, Kenya, Switzerland, and the US. He holds an MA in History and an MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction.
Hung-Li Su
Hung-Li is an educator and consultant based in the Asia-Pacific region, where he advises schools and supports transitions to international education systems. He has taught Language and Literature, Business Management, History, and TOK. Hung-Li holds an MSc in Democracy and Comparative Politics and a BA in Education Studies, both from University College London (UK).
Joanna Sommers
Joanna is an Assistant Principal and IB DP Coordinator at Werribee Secondary College in Melbourne, Australia. She holds an MA in Education (IB) from the University of Melbourne. Joanna has taught DP History and TOK in IB World Schools in Australia, the UAE, and Indonesia. She has also undertaken various IBEN (International Baccalaureate Educator Network) roles, including examiner and evaluation leader.
María Soledad Texido
María Soledad is the Head of Secondary at King’s College School Panama and has been an IB educator for over 15 years. She has taught IB History, serves as an IB examiner for History Paper 3 HL and Extended Essays, and has extensive experience teaching IB DP students in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Within the IBEN, she contributes as an evaluation leader, programme leader, workshop facilitator, and course outline reader.
Sheena Verghis Joshy
Sheena is Head of School at GPS Brookes Kochi, India. She has extensive experience teaching History and TOK and has held leadership positions across India, Kenya, and Malaysia. She is involved with the IB as an examiner and workshop leader for History and the Extended Essay, and serves as the History moderator for Programme Communities. Sheena has also contributed to developing the latest DP History curriculum and has authored Paper 3 questions.
Tim Woffenden
Tim studied at the University of Oxford, UK, and has taught History at IB World Schools in the UK. He is currently the lead author for Paper 2 and has over four decades of experience in examining History at senior high school level.
