Challenge
Measuring the value of language training
Bridge Education needed to demonstrate the return on investment of corporate language training beyond data related to course completion rates, attendance logs or satisfaction surveys.
Given that many in-company courses are short-term, they also needed a system of measuring small increments in proficiency.
Solution
GSE and Business Partner
Bridge adopted Pearson’s Business Partner course for its instructor-led programs, complemented by the course’s digital activities for self-study and reinforcement.
All Pearson courses are underpinned by the Global Scale of English (GSE), with its 10–90 scale that helps make even small proficiency gains visible within broader CEFR levels. The GSE Learning Objectives for Professional English further focus on the real-world language skills learners need in the workplace.
Results
Personalized training and demonstrable gains
By using the GSE, Bridge Education Group was able to tailor courses to the needs of individual employees and measure small increments of proficiency.
The GSE enabled the group's teachers to personalize learning and identify areas requiring more focus, boosted learner motivation and provided employers with the data they needed to inform ongoing investment in training.
The GSE scale provides teachers with clear and accurate insights into each learning level, allowing the teaching and learning process to be effective, structured, and meaningful.
