Those first few moments in your presentation are critical for audience engagement. Not only is this your opportunity to hook your audience's attention. It's also where you give them a sneak peek of your content, your style, your energy. First, let's talk about all of the elements of your internal. At the start, you have your attention grabber. This is whatever you use to captivate your audience immediately. Then start your next sentence with the benefit to your audience. The question here is how will their lives be better for having not only attended, but paid attention during your presentation? This might sound something like I'm going to show you a process that saves you at least 15 to 30 minutes on your daily reporting. If I'm frustrated while I do my reporting every day, you just got my attention now for your credibility. Unless you're already famous, or someone has read your bio immediately before you start presenting. It's important that this audience knows early why they can trust you in this topic area instead of a list of your credentials, which is sure to turn off or bore your. Consider telling a quick story that illustrates your credibility. It might start something like when I started in this industry 16 years ago, story's a great way to share your credibility with ease and grace. The next part of your introduction is your juicy core message. This is the main way you'll orient your audience toward the outcome and promise of this presentation. And then finally. If it makes sense for your presentation and will be helpful to your audience, consider doing a preview of your main points. What I like about sharing some kind of preview is that it gives your audience a map for what to expect. This doesn't mean you lay out your main points exactly. As they show up in the rest of your presentation, you can use this to even be more. and set up a bit of a puzzle in their brains. Our brains love a puzzle and mystery a well thought out preview of main points can provide that kind of a brain hook. It might sound something like this over the next 30 minutes.
