Have you ever seen the speech by Steve jobs at the apple conference where they released the first Mac in the grainy video, you can find online, you see the vague figure of Steve jobs. Walk up to the podium. There's music playing, and the crowd is clapping and enthusiastically, he stands at the podium with a small smile on his face, looking out across the crack. After a solid 30 to 45 seconds of listening to the applause, he says, hello, I'm Steve jobs. And then the crowd goes wild again. Few of us can expect this kind of a rousing greeting. When we step up to the podium to do our presentation, this means that you're going to have to come up with something extra captivating to grab the attention of most audiences I'll share with you. Some of those captivating ideas in this video first. Tell a story, our brains light up as soon as they recognize that the story is beginning. Begin your story with an action scene and you'll have them a riveted next, you can share a shocking statistic. Did you know that the average American throws away 68 pounds of clothing and textiles per year? Of course, the statistic needs to be relevant to the topic, but when it is, you will definitely get their attention. You can also ask your audience a question. There are two types of questions to consider a rhetorical question, just to get them thinking and a real question that inspires them to raise their hand or share a short verbal response. One of your most important jobs as a presenter is as the steward of a positive experience for your audience. So be clear about whether you're looking for a response or not. So you don't have audience members calling out answers and then feeling embarrassed. If your question was actually retort. Of course you can use a video clip music, a fancy magic trick in your intro.
