Now, looking at this equation, you may be thinking, oh my gosh, there's so many terms here. I'm gonna have to do a lot in order to solve this, but if we look a little bit closer, we can see that our variable. X is actually already all by itself, meaning it's already solved for, so we don't really have to do much here. All we have to do is simplify this side here, 30 minus 10 + 4. These are all constants, so I can easily perform this subtraction in addition in order to get my solution. So, 30 minus 10 is 20 and then 20 + 4 is 24, so this gives me that 24 equals X and this is my solution. I didn't even have to use my addition or subtraction properties of equality. So, make sure that you're paying attention to what exactly is happening in your equation. It may be easier to solve than you think. Now, here we also want to check our solution, so in order to do that, we plug that 24 back in for our variable X. So doing that here gives me 30 minus 10 + 4. We're checking, is that equal to 24? Does plugging our solution in give us a true statement? Now, 30 minus 10 + 4, we know that that is 24, that's exactly what we just did to solve our equation. So, 24 equals 24 is what I end up with here when I plug that solution back in. Now, this is definitely a true statement. These are the exact same value, so we know we solved this correctly.
