Built on Structured Literacy principles

StepsWeb is a research-based literacy program that supports literacy and language development, addressing both the underlying processing skills and the essential knowledge components through a Structured Literacy approach.

Designed for all learners – including those with dyslexia, English as an additional language, or those needing remedial support – this adaptive program provides engaging, evidence-based practice tailored to each student’s level, helping them build confidence as they make progress.

StepsWeb also includes detailed reporting tools to help teachers track progress, along with a wide range of additional teaching resources to support targeted reinforcement. It’s quick and easy to set up, with minimal ongoing admin.

The StepsWeb difference

Backed by research

An independent study found that pupils using StepsWeb made an average of 14 months’ literacy progress in just 6 months. Visual recognition speed (an indicator of reading fluency) improved by 51%, with positive effects also seen in learners’ self-esteem. Here’s how it helps deliver these results for learners.

Resources address individual needs

StepsWeb resources support children at all levels of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. The core teaching principles remain consistent; what differs is the level of reinforcement, type of support, and resources required.

Supports the "Big 6" of reading

The program follows a structured, cumulative pathway that supports the essential components of reading.

Continual reinforcement aides progression

As learners progress through the online course, the program continually monitors their progress and automatically provides targeted reinforcement to support skill mastery and long-term retention.

I cannot praise this program highly enough. My students love it and are making great progress - they love it as much as I do!
— Chris Green, St George Preca Catholic School
