StepsWeb is an online literacy program designed to support structured literacy across Years F–12. It provides structured, research-based activities n in reading and spelling, aligned to evidence-based practices, helping schools deliver consistent, skills-based literacy teaching that supports phonic knowledge, reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension and spelling development from early primary through to secondary years.
In daily classroom use, StepsWeb begins with a placement test that creates an individualised pathway for each student. Learners progress through adaptive practice aligned to weekly goals, while teachers use built-in monitoring and printable resources to support instruction, intervention and consolidation alongside core literacy teaching.
Yes. Designed as a complete spelling program, StepsWeb supports whole-school progression through a consistent, skills-based approach. It delivers structured spelling grounded in phonics and word-level knowledge, helping schools align literacy instruction across year levels with clear scope and continuity.
StepsWeb is grounded in research and evidence-based practice. In a recent study, six schools saw an average of 14 months’ spelling age gain after six months of use.” (e.g., “14 months’ progress in 6 months”).

Reports present rich reading and spelling data, supported by deep diagnostic information that helps identify challenges before they become barriers to progress.
Educators can view individual student profiles showing time on task, completed and assigned work, achievement milestones, detailed error logs, and visual charts tracking accuracy and progress in reading and spelling, comprehension and language, phonic knowledge and phonological awareness.
At a class level, live dashboards show where every learner is positioned, highlight students falling behind or not meeting usage goals, and reveal areas needing targeted teaching.
