In sunny Darwin, Pearson joined Sheena Cameron and literacy enthusiasts from across Australia at the 2022 AATE/ALEA Conference. The conference theme, 'Hearts, Minds, Stories' referenced the ever-changing learning landscape and the collective effort needed to 'drive innovation and creative thinking for learning in the 21st century that is research and evidence aligned, culturally responsive and creates rich, genuine futures for our learners’1.

Sheena delivered her plenary keynote exploring the conference theme with ‘What does research tell us about the most effective ways to support students to understand what they read?’.

This was followed by a book signing and launch of the new editions of Sheena’s highly anticipated teacher resource books.

To support the book launch, Pearson offered conference attendees the opportunity to win a Sheena Cameron teacher resource book pack, including print and eBook copies of the new 2nd editions of Teaching Reading Comprehension Strategies, The Reading Activity Handbook and The Publishing and Display Handbook.

Congratulations to prize winner Emma Hansen, Assistant Principal at Driver Primary School in the Northern Territory.

Sheena Cameron shares her conference highlights:

'The Darwin ALEA conference provided a long-awaited opportunity to get together with colleagues and friends from across Australia. The warmth of the Darwin winter helped to create a relaxed atmosphere and I had the privilege of attending many inspiring sessions.

The highlight was launching the new editions of my three books, and it was fantastic to have Paul Smith’s (Pearson Australia) support and organisation to do this.'
